Abstract
This paper is in actuality an organizational project geared towards the creation of a module in an online taught course and covers the entire process from conceptualization of the class, the target audience it is meant to reach, learning objectives that the student can expect to learn during the module, plus activities and assessment tools that directly correlate to each objective that has been identified. During the process of developing an online course, it is important for the instructor to keep these key points in mind and continually ask themselves “What is the student audience learning?”, “Does the course have clearly defined objectives?”, “Are the activities designed to stimulate higher learning?”, “Is the activities and assessment measures diverse?” and lastly, “Are there measures built into the lessons that minimize the occurrence of plagiarism, if not eliminate it all together?”. All of these components should reflect the overall goal of the course and be able to support the final outcome for the module(s) utilized in the learning process. Provided an educator is diligent with following the directives that are mapped out in advance with an organization chart, the course itself should meet the requirements of an effective online course and as a result, provide a successful learning environment for the student to grow within.
